The centre part of the solar system is occupied by Sol or Sun. It is completely responsible for the weather and climate of the Earth. It is actually a perfect sphere and has a difference of about ten kilometres in diameter among the equator and the poles. The standard radius of our Sun is 695,508 km, out of which twenty to twenty five percent is the core. The age of the Sun is 4.6 billion years. It comes under yellow dwarf type. The mass of the Sun is 333,060 times the Earth. The surface temperate of the Sun is 5500 degree Celsius.

It is said that one million Earth has chance to accommodate the Sun. If the hollow Sun could accommodate spherical Earths, then it could hold around 960,000 Earths inside. The surface area of the Sun is 11,990 times compared to the Earth. There are chances for the Sun to consume the Earth. If all the hydrogen is burnt, the Sun will burn helium for another one hundred and thirty million years. During that point, it will start to expand and engulf the Earth, the Venus, and the Mercury. In that stage, the Sun will become a red fat giant.

At one point, the Sun has chances to get back to the size of our Earth. When it crosses the red giant stage, the Sun will tend to collapse, and retains its enormous mass. It will contain the equal or appropriate volume of our Earth. When this situation occurs, the Sun will be referred as a white dwarf. It contains 99.86% of mass present in the whole solar system. It contains three quarters of Hydrogen, and the remaining is Helium. It takes about eight minutes for the Sun light to reach our Earth considering the distance between the Earth and the Sun.
